The Island of Hawaii, commonly called the Big Island, is the largest and youngest of the Hawaiian Islands. It's known for its diverse landscapes, which include volcanic mountains, lush rainforests, and arid deserts.

The Big Island has several active volcanoes, including Kilauea and Mauna Loa. Kilauea has been one of the most active volcanoes in the world, and Mauna Loa is the largest volcano on Earth by volume. The island's volcanic activity has created dramatic landscapes and has played a significant role in shaping its geography.  Mauna Kea volcano is the highest point in Hawaii and offers some of the best stargazing opportunities in the world.
